All women in rural and remote South West Queensland are eligible for this service subject to Conflict of Interest check.

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU CONTACT TASC?

What does the service provide?
  • Initial advice and referral for Divorce (except property settlement matters), Parenting, Criminal Law matters, Domestic Violence, Child Protection, Consumer Law.
  • Neighbourhood Disputes.
  • Consumer Credit problems.
  • Video conference by appointment, with local Neighbourhood or Community Centre assistance
  • Regular circuits to rural areas by RWOLS solicitors to provide advice and follow up on initial interviews.

WHAT TO BRING TO YOUR FIRST APPOINTMENT

Before you meet with us

If you are a woman in rural and remote South West Queensland, then you are eligible for this service subject to a Conflict of Interest check.

 

If you are seeing us about any of the following types of matters that may include initial advice, referral, assistance with preparation of Court documents or access to other legal or advocacy support in any of the following areas:

 

  • Separation and/or divorce
  • Parenting
  • Domestic violence
  • Consumer
  • Credit/debt disputes
  • Neighbourhood disputes
  • Minor criminal law matters

 

You will need to bring the following with you to your 1st appointment:

 

FAMILY LAW

  • Any paperwork, including letters, court documents or existing orders that relate to your matter
  • A copy of your Marriage Certificate
  • A copy of your Health care card in order to be able to apply for a waiver of court filing fees (namely, divorce application filing fee)
  • An appropriate support person, if necessary

 

CIVIL/CONSUMER

  • Any paperwork, including letters, court documents, receipts, quotes or invoices that relate to your matter
  • Any photographs
  • Any notes you may have about the matter
  • An appropriate support person, if necessary

 

CRIMINAL MATTERS

  • Any paperwork, including notices to appear, bail undertakings, charge sheets and/or QP9s (the information that sets out the police facts about your charge/s)
  • Any copies of records of interview you have
  • Any medical reports that relate to your mental illness, intellectual disability or impairment and/or acquired brain injury (if any)
  • Any other documents or recordings you may have about your matter/s (eg, Involuntary Treatment Orders or Forensic Orders; previous decisions of a Mental Health Tribunal hearing or Mental Health Court) (if any)
  • An appropriate support person, if necessary

 

As we have regular visits to our rural and remote communities across South West Queensland, you may also access our service via video conferencing facilities.
